Templater Settings -> Specific Precompositions
-
Hi, is it possible to apply the Templater Settings plugin to a specific precomposition on the timeline and control its visibility via the datasheet? I’m looking for solutions that would allow me to manage different variants in the projects I work on.
I’d like to have, for example, 5 precompositions stacked on the timeline, and use the datasheet to select which one should be visible in a specific render. I imagine this could somehow be scripted with expressions, but maybe there’s a ready-made solution for it?
Thanks in advance for your response!

Hi Lukas,
Yes, that’s possible. You can apply the Templater Settings effect to any pre-comp layers.
Then, in the data, add a column for the pre-comp, and use what we call layer flags to toggle their visibility.
To hide the pre-comp layer, in the cells for the mapped column, you can place in
{{off}}
.Any other value will unhide it.
You can also enter another pre-comp name surrounded by brackets to change the source of the pre-comp layer.
See this article for more information on flags.
Let us know if you that answers your question and if you have any more.

@LukasCuprzynski To add to what Arie is saying, if only one of the five precomps are going to be visible at once, you can use a flag to switch the precomps out entirely, as if they were any other piece of pre-rendered footage, rather than having to individually tag each comp with
{{off}}
flags for each output. This video demonstrates the comp switching technique. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEIg7mOR3iA
