How to keep templater from changing layer visibility?
-
I’m using a text layer (with data from a spreadsheet i.e. numbers in my case) as a track matte for an underlying footage layer. Getting templater to preview keeps making the text layer visible (layer eye icon) thus messing up my track matte. Is there a way to tell templater to not change layer visibility on preview/render?

Found a workaround by importing text to a dummy layer at the bottom of the comp from which the track matte pulls the source text.

You can also precomp your text layer (move all attributes into the comp), and use the precomp as your track matte.

Another alternative is you might use the {{off}} flag in your data source to force a layer’s visibility to turn off. See this small bit of documentation, then head over to our YouTube channel to check out this video.
