@Ben-Forman I understand that we’re in direct contact on this particular issue, but I wanted to make sure that any additional technical questions that you might have get answered. As far as referrals go, we’re in the process of creating a system for clients to get in touch with skilled developers. That should be launching relatively shortly, but if we can answer any other questions in the meantime, please just us know.

@Jeff-Rubin Could you clarify which form you are talking about, as we have several methods of communication on our site-- a general contact form, a support ticket form, and if you’ve submitted either form previously, you can either reply directly to any emails you receive from us or access and reply to your tickets when logged into the same account that sent the messages under the “account” menu. If something is broken, we need to know specifically what was happening so that we can investigate and address it. Thanks!
  • Audio file markers to cue events in a template?

@Jeff Yes that would work, I already shifted to that approach and dropped the idea of using markers, it was not necessary. Breaking the audio into smaller audio clips works. Thank you.

Pete, I’m thinking that you’re correct in assuming that this probably has to do with After Effects getting tripped up by the file getting swapped but AE using a cached version of the old file. Unfortunately, this isn’t a super common issue, so we’ll probably need to dive deeper into the specifics. I’d like to know a bit more about where the audio files are stored. Is this local footage, or are they being downloaded from a URL? If the source is remote, could you check and see if the “Allow unique downloads for cloud-based assets” box is checked in the Templater Preferences? If the assets are local, I think that getting access to the templater.log file would probably be the best next step so we can see if there’s something obvious happening behind the scenes. Thanks, Jeff

@SammyGDrake Do you have anything set for the Alignment, Align To, or Scale factor settings in the Templater Settings panel? It sounds as though Templater is aligning the text based on the Layout settings and breaking the Mister Horse Animation presets. Could you try clearing any settings you might have in the Layout section and see if that makes a difference? Thanks.

@IanW Most of the basic testing we’ve done indicates that .ai files should be able to be swapped in without an issue. However, due to larger files’ potential complexity, there’s some possibility that performance might be impacted. If you’re looking to use more complex files, I’d recommend downloading the free trial version of Templater to see if it works well with you’re planning. The demo is a fully functional version of Templater Bot with a 30-day trial, so it should give you ample time to see if you run into any difficulties. We also provide support during the demo period, so if you run into issues, we can do what we can to help you in any way possible. Hope that helps!

  • How to make templater images FIT TO COMP

@Ryan Absolutely. It’s what the “Fit Image Style” option in Templater Effect Panel does. There are two options: Fill (Cropped) and Letterbox (No Cropping). Fill will expand the image until it fills the entire frame, whereas Letterbox will keep the image constrained to the Comp proportions. If you have any additional questions about Templater, please just let us know.

@Roberto-Mardini You can add your comp to the render queue normally via AE’s menus, and it will render just the currently-previewing individual job data. The render-status column is only used by Templater Bot. If you still want to output a range of rows, you’d still need to adjust the start and end values in the Transport controls section.

@Steve I’m not clear on the question you are asking. Could you explain more in depth what is and isn’t happening, and what you are trying to make happen?

@simon_t apologies for the long delay. We haven’t been receiving notices for new posts, but I believe we corrected that issue. It looks like the video at the loom link isn’t active anymore. If you set a scale factor on the text layer, and make sure that it is within it’s own precomp that is the size of the text box you want, it should fit the text to the dimensions of the precomp.

@Richard Apologies for the delay. Can you clarify your workflow a bit more? The master composition, by design, does not get affected by any of its children compositions. You may be able to use Adobe’s Master Properties, though we have not tried this.

hi there Did anyone work this out? We have 10 comps with the same information in. Name, Date, Venue. Is there a way not to have to name each layer Name1, Name2, Name3? S0 the excel spreadsheet only looks at row 1 so you end up having a massive long line on row 1 I just want to have: Column 1 - Driver Column 2 - Date Column 3 - Venue Does that make sense?

@Tasnadi-Otto Just to clarify, are you talking about pixel dimensions (length and width) or time/duration? If you’re talking about time, you can do what Arie suggested, or, as a workaround, you could set up your text layer(s) and have it mapped in multiple comps, each comp having a different duration, then use comp switching feature to swap between different precomps using the method shown in this demonstration.

@ariestav Thanks for the reply. I will give both of those suggestions a try and report back.
