Magic wand (in Transport) not working

The magic wand that previews templater settings is not working. Is there a setting I am missing to enable? This was noticed after Templater 3.0 install.

That’s a bit odd. One thing you might check is whether or not any data has been ingested into the project yet. Try hitting the “refresh” button in the “Preview Data Merge” section of the Templater panel and see if that changes anything.
I’ve found in the past that Templater needs to process some data for the plugin to start processing Layout preferences. If that’s not the case here, it would be helpful to get more information on what’s happening so we can attempt to replicate the issue internally.

@jeff Hitting refresh did return functionality for projects with data. However, many of our projects are built first with a data set coming later. Was this always the behavior? If I recall, I have built from scratch with the ability to adjust the layout and magic wand preview. And I haven’t had to reload data to get that working. Because even projects with data might not need it loaded while I’m making adjustments. Thanks

@dhannigan it could be that the preference to use Templater’s layout engine is turned off. Is that checkbox
enabled in your preferences under the Advanced group? If so, the wand tool won’t function.In the mean time, we can look into seeing if this is a bug we can reproduced that needs to be fixed

@dhannigan I’ve confirmed this is a bug with Templater 3, and it’s in our ticketing system to fix it for the next release. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. We normally QA with data, and will add QA tasks to check for this functionality without any data connected.
