Rigging a .xml with a .png sequence

Hello Team.
I have a series of .xmls that are each a different .png sequence. One for each video I want to export.
Is it possible to rig a layer that’s an .xml and have Templater cycle through the spreadsheet? -
I’m unsure if I understand what we’re looking to accomplish here. I can say that Templater doesn’t support XML data files by default, but it does have support for PNG sequences.
Can we get a few more details on how this project is set up? What is meant when you say that each XML is a different PNG sequence? The more detail we can get on what you’re attempting to accomplish, the better we’ll be able to formulate a suggestion.
Let us know what you can and we’ll see where we need to go from there.

@jeff Thanks for your reply and sorry for lack of detail in my post.
Basically, we’re trying to sort out subtitles for videos.
We tried the .jsx/.srt trick with the project you guys provide on github, but that is limited in terms of formatting, especially multiple formats within one video (italics, etc).
So now our subtitle team is providing .pngs with an .xml, each .png essentially being one frame of a subtitle, the .xml dictating its ‘edit’.
I was hoping I could rig the .xml like any other asset.The solution we came up with is to convert those .png sequences to .mov with alpha and let Templater do its thing with that asset. Considering you can drop a batch of .xmls straight into Media Encoder, this will probably be the fix.

@citizensam interesting solution! We would love to see the transcription/captioning panel from Premiere come to AE, as dealing with subtitles in AE has always been less than ideal. Burn-in shouldn’t be the only option—sidecar files and embedded subtitle streams need to be added. I would recommend searching the Adobe forums to see if there’s already a feature request related to it, or making a new one if there isn’t. Ideally, AE should be able to handle SRT, VTT, and other common formats as inputs, as well as industry-standard outputting.
